I was saddened by this article on the Gulf Oil Spill written by a Pensacola local who loves the beach as much as I do. He is an iReporter for CNN and his article was short but to the point. I'm intrigued by his choice to collect photos of lost shoes and the way he puts things together reminds me much of how I feel now. My first daughter, Kaya Monique Moya, came into this world on July 8 and I truly do wonder what the world she gets to see will look like in comparison to the one I was blessed to have known and even the one her brothers are growing up in now. I have fond memories of living on the coastlines of Florida and swimming in the ocean quite literally a thousand times before and I know both of my boys have great memories of the same beaches but I have my doubts that Kaya will enjoy those same beaches in her childhood. I am almost certain she will know beaches from some other place and the ones we are used to will still be polluted by "The Big Spill" as it is certain to be called. I feel bad that she will never swim in the Gulf or dive the coral reef off Key West as I did or that she will probably never get to see a living thing swim in the waters off the coast of Jamaica which is already dying without the oil spill and stands no chance if the oil were to spread that far. Will she even ever learn to scuba dive and swim in the warm waters of the Caribbean and Gulf ever? The scariest thing I read was that they may soon have to evacuate the coastal areas because of toxic ran from the chemical dispersants being used to clean up the spill. How crazy does that sound? They are pouring poison into the ocean to clean up the poison they spilled in the oceans and it may cause acid rain on the coast of Florida? No folks it's not a bad sci fi movie. This is reality at it's worst. Lost Sole on Pensacola Beach - CNN iReport

The future is very uncertain with the looming threats of mass coastal evacuations due to to possible toxic rain from evaporating chemical dispersants. The overwhelming and ever-present sense of anxiety is almost too much at times. Causing anger and frustration to creep up in ways you do not even realize. Usually the target being BP and the Govt. who are not doing nearly enough to clean up this disaster and us having no control over the situation, we are helpless against a disaster of this proportion.
