Alarm on Deep Water Horizon was "inhibited" at time of oil spill
How we ever allow BP to continue doing business in our country will remain a mystery to me when I consider how inept they have been at managing not only the Deepwater Horizon but the spill which it's collapse has created.
Apparently certain alarms were disabled so that crew could sleep in piece and quiet without a 3am wakeup alarm and because of this the well was under protected at the time of the original explosion. Crews were not notified about a serious problem for quite some time and the end result was a late response to a problem that may well have been prevented had we used a little common sense and not been overly concerned with the sleeping habits of some employees being disturbed.
Now instead we have one of the largest man made disasters the world has ever faced and of course 11 of those employees are now dead. I would personally trade the entire staff of the Deepwater Horizon in exchange for all the marine wildlife lost to the tragedy but many of you will consider me heartless for saying so. I could care less about the human life and I am more worried about the defenseless animals which are now facing extinction for the sake of some profits and a little extra peace and quiet time.
As tragic and terrible as that may sound I would much rather have lost a few dozen easily replaceable humans for the irreplaceable loss of species we risk in the Gulf of Mexico. Am I the only one who cares enough about the animals to sacrifice a few BP employees?

BP finally stops oil spewing from Gulf gusher
BP has finally capped the Gulf Oil Spill although this may only last a few days or less. The current cap is a temporary fix which is being tested for leaks over the next 48 hours. If the tests go well they may leave the well capped but in reality what they are most likely to do is setup the pumping again so they can siphon off as much as 80,000 barrels of oil per day. I mean why should they shut the flow of oil off when they have so much to repay for the mistakes made so far?
80,000 barrels per day will help offset the losses which are said to be over 100 million per day at this point. If BP wants to stop bleeding cash as well as oil they will continue with siphoning efforts to reclaim as much lost profits as possible. Of course they will spin it to be more job security or out of safety concerns but the truth is 80,000 barrels of oil per day is quite a bit of money to make and worth the efforts.
Do you think BP should keep up with the oil siphoning or should they cap the well and focus on the clean up efforts?

The photos in this art installation are simply awesome and a great reminder of how much damage and pollution we are creating here on Planet Earth for future generations. It truly is disgusting how much oil has been spilled and when you consider the statistics its even sadder. All the oil in the Gulf Region would barely power the USA for less than a week by even the most liberal estimates and as low as 2 full days by most.
To make this more clear we destroyed the Gulf of Mexico for a total of one weeks worth of oil. Now I realize we need power and a week without oil or gas is impossible to imagine but so then too is life without the Gulf of Mexico. What kind of trade off have we made that we are willing to lose the valuable Gulf for the sake of power and energy that lasts just a few days?

Is the Gulf Oil Spill responsible for poisoned food crops in Mississippi?
Yobie Benjamin, writing for The San Francisco Chronicle, is reporting what nobody else in the corporate media is reporting — a mysterious disease has stricken crops in Mississippi and it may be connected to the BP oil gusher. Can this be any more scary then to think our food crops are being poisoned by the Gulf Oil Spill? The science seems sound if the timing is not a bit early yet. i mean that this can happen is probably not in question but that it has already begun is more difficult to belive. Than again Mother Earth is a delicate system and the amounts of poison being introduce into the oceans may be enough to release toxic fumes that far inland and with enough potency to do damages to crops. The scariest things may be in knowing what this stuff does when it seeps into the water table and children and families start to ingest mass quantities of it. It's just ridiculous that no one has tested any of these chemical dispersants and to think they are pouring tons of it into the ocean each day is simply mind boggling. This crap may not kill people immediately but the future health related issues could be staggering and lets not forget the genetic damage and birth defects it can cause in future generations. If any of this is true than the BP Oil spill will last more than one life time and could have an everlasting effect on the ecology of not only the Gulf but the entire Southern US and Mexico.
