PostHeaderIcon EPA confirms Air Pollution and "Moderate Health Risk" from BP Oil Spill

I have written on this subject before and with alarming speed it has come to be more than true but much larger than I ever imagined. What started as a story on one news cast about possible food crops damaged in Mississippi has become much more over the course of just this week. It has evolved into an actual warning from the EPA that coastal residents do in fact face a "moderate health risk" from fumes released by the toxic chemicals that have been dumped iinto the ocean. It is such a shame what has become of our beloved Gulf in the hands of these dirty corporate scoundrels. The so called chemical dispersants, which are said to make the oil break apart, are probably going to do more damage to the environment than the naturally occuring oil which although a horrible sticky mess seems more organic and easier to assimilate into the earth than some manmade concoction.

Neither one is good but the lesser of all evils would be to just clean up the oil with no more dispersants. I mean why break it up anyway? Why not contain the oil spill and centralize the damage? What twisted sense is there in pouring gas on the proverbial fire. This toxic stew of deadly chemicals will not only destroy the Gulf of Mexico but now it jeapordizes the entire coastal region with acid rain and dead food crops?

How much more damage have they done that we are unaware of? What exactly are these chemicals? Will they cause genetic damage in the oceans fish? Are we going to start seeing fish with cancer and mutations? What exactly happens to the people who cannot escape the toxic rains? How far away from the coast will we have to be? Is a few hundred miles enough?

BP has finally capped the Gulf Oil Spill although this may only last a few days or less. The current cap is a temporary fix which is being tested for leaks over the next 48 hours. If the tests go well they may leave the well capped but in reality what they are most likely to do is setup the pumping again so they can siphon off as much as 80,000 barrels of oil per day. I mean why should they shut the flow of oil off when they have so much to repay for the mistakes made so far?

80,000 barrels per day will help offset the losses which are said to be over 100 million per day at this point. If BP wants to stop bleeding cash as well as oil they will continue with siphoning efforts to reclaim as much lost profits as possible. Of course they will spin it to be more job security or out of safety concerns but the truth is 80,000 barrels of oil per day is quite a bit of money to make and worth the efforts.

Do you think BP should keep up with the oil siphoning or should they cap the well and focus on the clean up efforts?

PostHeaderIcon Is the Gulf Oil Spill responsible for poisoned food crops in Mississippi?

Yobie Benjamin, writing for The San Francisco Chronicle, is reporting what nobody else in the corporate media is reporting — a mysterious disease has stricken crops in Mississippi and it may be connected to the BP oil gusher. Can this be any more scary then to think our food crops are being poisoned by the Gulf Oil Spill? The science seems sound if the timing is not a bit early yet. i mean that this can happen is probably not in question but that it has already begun is more difficult to belive. Than again Mother Earth is a delicate system and the amounts of poison being introduce into the oceans may be enough to release toxic fumes that far inland and with enough potency to do damages to crops. The scariest things may be in knowing what this stuff does when it seeps into the water table and children and families start to ingest mass quantities of it. It's just ridiculous that no one has tested any of these chemical dispersants and to think they are pouring tons of it into the ocean each day is simply mind boggling. This crap may not kill people immediately but the future health related issues could be staggering and lets not forget the genetic damage and birth defects it can cause in future generations. If any of this is true than the BP Oil spill will last more than one life time and could have an everlasting effect on the ecology of not only the Gulf but the entire Southern US and Mexico.
